BACKGROUND
The former Maui Hotel Association is comprised of 40 hotel & lodging members and 80 allied member businesses. The MHA is Sketch Maui Hotel & Lodging Logoa vital organization that represents many of the main businesses in Maui's economic engine. This year's annual walk raised over $360,000 for Maui's charitable organizations. The Board of Directors decided to change their name to the more inclusive Maui Hotel & Lodging Association. They needed a graphic identity developed within three weeks.

Robert Glick designed a logo integrating the MHLA primary letter forms with a color palette of earthy sienna, dark umber and yellow-orange. The design has a strongly structural feel, not unlike many hotel buildings. The graphic imagery was largely inspired by traditional designs from Maui’s host culture. The supporting typography, ATC Laurel Italic, offered a counterpoint to the blocky mark and imparts a professional image.
