Case Study of a Winning Design

South Course Development, LLC

OVERVIEW
Glick Design creates dynamic print collateral for a real estate development in Ka‘anapali.

BACKGROUND
South Course Development needed a graphic identity, marketing brochures, and web site to illustrate their concept behind Lanikeha at Ka‘anapali. The development team wanted to create a community at Lanikeha, not just a subdivision. They took an understated, sensitive, and elegant approach to the common amenities of Lanikeha, utilizing stone and ‘ohia wood with the lush Lanikeha Brochure Design Sketchtropical landscaping to create a feeling of old Hawai‘i.

Glick Design integrated these concepts and the marketing approach when creating the graphic identity, web site, and large-format brochure. The theme of the brochure was built around the ancient Hawaiian concepts of Ho‘ike, Kaiaulu, ‘Ohana, Pa‘ani, Kahi, and ‘Kahale. Most pages featured stunning scenic photography of West Maui and views of the property.

Another section was devoted to extraordinary Maui lifestyle images. Presented in a custom double-thick, natural birch-colored envelope, the brochure cover stock was embossed with a unique Hawaiian-style border and stamped with the Lanikeha graphic identity in a matte copper foil.

SUMMARY
The Lanikeha project has enjoyed very strong sales with Phase I sold out and Phase II well on its way. Unprecedented even by the standards of Maui's vibrant real estate market, one week after Lanikeha Phase I went to market, all 67 lots were reserved, and backup reservations were three deep. Glick Design was awarded a 2006 American Graphic Design Award in the print collateral category for this concept and graphic design.
